SustainAtlanta on GPB's "On Second Thought"

Hey All,

I had the pleasure of being a panelist on NPR’s and Georgia Public Broadcasting’s “On Second Thought” Tuesday morning to discuss transportation, population, and housing in the Atlanta metro region. I joined host Celeste Headlee, Mike Alexander of the Atlanta Regional Commission, Chris Leinberger of the Brookings Institute, and Bem Joiner of the Center for Civic Innovation in a talk about what the region needs to do to properly accommodate an estimated 2.5 million additional residents.

Chris Leinberger presented information from a 2014 report he authored naming Atlanta the 8th most walkable city in the country. Following the publication of that article we posted our own article critiquing some of his methodology and arguing that walkable communities need to be linked by alternative modes of transportation in order to fully realize the benefits. Some of that analysis appeared in today’s discussion.
